Grace Dental Mission, Inc. was founded in 1996 as a non-profit, tax-exempt corporation to help local churches in their efforts toward worldwide evangelism. The goal is to support the efforts of those missionaries that are sent out by independent, fundamental local churches both here in the United States and abroad.
In 1992 we had the opportunity to help a missionary family on furlough from Africa with their personal dental needs. One result of this was that we were made aware of the difficulty many missionary families have in obtaining affordable dental care. Oftentimes they are forced to go without simply because they can not afford treatment. In addition, many are on fields where they have little or no access to safe quality dental care. Grace Dental Mission began with a burden to be a help to these missionaries by providing free care to qualified families both here in the United States and also on foreign fields.
Our first two overseas missionary trips, Senegal, W. Africa and Papua New Guinea, were primarily focused on treating missionary families serving in those locations. While on these trips we also had the opportunity to treat some of the national people. By doing this we saw that we could use the dental ministry as a tool to bring unsaved people in contact with the message of salvation through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
As time went on, other like minded Christians began participating in these overseas ministries. Some help out in the area of dentistry and medicine and others in the area of adult and child evangelism as the outreach clinics are going on. Thus what began as a ministry focused on the dental needs of missionaries has emerged as a mission with a burden to contribute to the spread of the gospel in three significant ways. (See Our Burden)
